Privacy policy
This policy covers the private home automation system known as Dwayne's Castle, a Home Assistant instance operated by one household in Norway. The system has no public users. The only accounts it connects to are the household's own.
What the system accesses
Through the Google Calendar API, the system reads and may create calendar events on the Google account it is signed in as. That account belongs to the household and exists for the home. Events from other people appear only when those people invite that account to them.
How the data is used
Calendar data is used to let the home respond to the household's plans, for example to know when someone intends to wake up, when guests are expected, or when the home is empty. It is not used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose outside running the home.
Where the data lives
Data retrieved from Google is stored on a server inside the household's home and nowhere else. It is not sold, shared, or transferred to any third party.
Retention and removal
Calendar data is kept only as long as the corresponding events exist in the connected calendar. Access can be revoked at any time from the Google account's security settings, after which the system can no longer read the calendar.
